Hey Adrianne How you doing

Hello, hello. Everything is good!

Tell me about the album.  How long it took from conception to
completion.

First off, He That Hath An Ear Let Him Hear is a dream come true for sure.  I had been waiting for so long to finish school and get in the studio.  I really just wanted to make sure that it had “pure” music on it and that it portrayed my personality.  You know, not just a beat and two notes on a keyboard but “real” music and I am excited that we were able to accomplish that.  It took only 4 months to complete the recording, that was the easy part and then about 6 months to release it with all the paperwork and mixing and mastering etc., which was the complicated stuff..

Is it your first album.

Yes, this is the baby!

Are you pleased with the outcome.

Absolutely! If you put your heart and soul into your dreams, with God, and a little drive, the outcome is bound to be pleasing in both His eyes and yours!

You wrote virtually all the album.  How do you put a song together ,
who are your influences and what do you draw from.

I let the music speak! I know that may sound a ,little crazy but when I write to music I let the notes, riffs, and runs take me away.  Now when I write without music, for some reason, I hear the music in my head along with words. I don’t know it’s hard to explain and I guess that’s what so wonderful about the entire writing experience and it’s probably also why they call it a gift.  With this particular album, I was most definitely influenced by the scriptures and experience.  If you listen to the words, “He That Hath An Ear…, in It Is Well…, Death, where is they sting, behave yourself…,” it’s all based on scripture.

It’s very spiritual, yet very accessible, nice overall feel, is that
how you see it.

Exactly, spiritual, soothing and fun! Everyone can relate.

It’s very ‘current’ in terms of style and beats, yet it’s not Mainstream soul or neo soul.  The album is you?

I was just thinking I could have named the album “Adrianne” and with the music that Joel, my producer, presented I had to go left field in my writing and singing expression.  We literally stopped listening to other peoples music during the time of the recording so that we could keep our music out of this world!

Tell me about the ‘team’ around you, Soul Ling, Carlis (phillips) and
Joel(goodman), their individual contribution and how it all gels together.

We all have the most beautiful relationship!  The three of us could very well spend weeks straight in the studio without ever leaving and most importantly we could hang out anytime afterwards and be the best of friends.  “Family” is a better way to describe us!  Joel puts his heart in his music and offers it to me and makes sure I pull everything out of myself and put it into his songs! Wow! Carlis, is not only one of the only male singers I’ll sing with but he was the engineer, the manager and when he feels something while I’m singing he’ll add to it. I trust him, he’s like my protector in this thing!

How difficult as an independent is it putting something together like
this.

I wouldn’t say it’s difficult but you have to have drive and want it BAD!!  It requires a lot of time, money, money, money and great ideas not only for singing but in business.

Great production for an independnt – that’s down to Joel?

He’s not from earth! We are so blessed to have him around because he could be off traveling the universe with the type of music that he creates. He’s not only a producer but a real musician that loves his craft.

How’s it going down, what reactions are you getting.

First off you, know the music is gospel right, well I sing my songs in the all types of settings and they love it!!  There is such a wide range of people in all ages, and cultures, U.S., Japan, and the U.K. that are so welcoming of the album.  Louisville is so supportive and the overall response has been crazy!

What are you doing to promo it?

We have a dedicated street team for the region that sell the album and keep it in folks ears! Also as Soul Linq, we throw events such as listening parties, the album release party, and we also sing wherever we are invited.  We use the internet, television and radio as well to keep it flowing.  We have done in store sales where I sign posters and play live.

Do you do much live work, whats your show like.

Everywhere I sing I use my band. Though I know the time will come for using tracks I prefer to provide an entire production for our audiences.  Our show, in so many words is a spirit filled journey.  It’s so emotional and expressive!

Are you in music full time?

Man, naw! I still have a full time job, ugh! But God is good because I could be unemployed and my job of 7 years, is how we got funding for this project. However, because my singing dates are clashing so much with my job I shouldn’t be with my company for too long.  I just want to be totally guided and sure enough before I make that move into full-time music. What a great day that will be!

Tell me about yourself, where your from, your background, what you like
To do.

I was born, raised and still reside in Louisville, Kentucky.  I am the baby girl of my ma’s 7 children. I started singing and got saved
around 6 in the church.  Man from like 13 to 17 I sang in these Gospel Hit Stage Plays, did a small amount of traveling and have been writing songs since I was about 11 or 12.  Like a lot of people in Louisville I had a singing group, Eternal Purpose. We all ended up going to different colleges, we graduated and 3 of my live background singers came from that group.  I guess you could say, we’re together again!

Why Fats!?

My oldest brother used to call me that name for two reasons, one because I was a fat baby and the other I won’t say.(smile) He basically used the name “Fats” to tease me, but I turned around and made it good. He’s silly, but it works!

What else have you done musically.

Well, I sing at different churches and do praise and worship where ever I am asked. I have done some work for hire and some hooks on few friends local projects but most of the work I do is through Soul LinQ.  Being in Louisville makes it complicated but I believe my time is here.

I see Klientel are on the same label as you.  You’ve worked together?

That’s how it all started. Carlis is one of the two soloists in Klientel and he heard me sing first and let me wreck up his first studio.  I sang on their second project and we ALWAYS work together now.  We’re family.

I also see you opened for Detric Haddon, his album was hot over here
Last year.

That was a blessing and was sortive on the spot, but you always have to be ready! They called my name from the audience and I just got up there and sang my best with what God gave me.

Karen Clark-Sheard is another favorite, that must’ve been good.

Detroit, Michigan 1999 at the PAW convention, I’ll never forget it and still can’t believe it!  God just keeps opening doors.

What’s it like being a musician in Kentucky

There are plenty of musicians here but most people settle for playing for the local churches, and that’s wonderful, but we want to take the gospel and GO!  This is home and our hearts are hear but our music is and comes from many places.

And whats the plan for the immediate future

Touring, touring and more touring. We are excited about hitting the college market. School starts soon and we are ready to keep the album alive.

And the master plan?

You can’t have a master plan without the Master, Jesus Christ, so we’ll just go with the Master and anything wonderful can happen when He is exalted! Overall we’ll stay positive and keep our drive!

Anything else you’d like to add.

Yeah, I’d just like that thank everyone for playing my project, our project, He That Hath An Ear Let Him Hear.  This is a family affair and we just want to keep it in the ears of those who are willing to check it out! So if you don’t have it get it at cdbaby.com or adriannearchie.com.

Good luck and thanks for your time.

God Bless you and thanks for your time too!
