Again the
same criticisms as with the Mary j Blige Review which principally is the lack
of music on a music video. However
I found this very informative and watchable. Maybe that’s because I knew less of Ashanti than I had realised.
I guess
when you think about it there is almost an hours worth of commentary, pretty
much non stop, there is a large amount of information here. So it that respect
it is worth getting. And of course
on an ‘unauthorised’ there are matters touched upon., for example alleged links
between underworld and hip hop, which probably wouldn’t be on an authorised.
I’m not
sure whether vocally she hangs with the best but I found this intersting, and
informative, and an insight as to how young fresh talent may always make it
given talent and a few breaks.
Ashanti - Princess of Hip Hop / Soul tells the story of a young
girl growing up in New York.
Ashanti had her heart set on entertaining
and she dreamt of one day being a Super Star. Now, that dream has become a
reality. The Hip Hop Princess has graced the cover of nearly every major
magazine and won numerous awards for writing and performing her own music. She
has certainly come a long way since those days of performing in the living room
back home in front of her family. Take a ride with us as we explore the life of
Ashanti – how she found music and how music found her.
