Charlie
Chaplin: DJ Roll Call (RZACD027)
Culled from
the early 90’s, Chaplin’s ras output.
I’m not Dancehall’s biggest fan I have to say, particularly current
stuff, but the good especially the older stuff is really worth checking out,
and this , of that genre, is about as good as you get.
This also
incudes some live dancehall which captures a vibe over some old riddims, fresh
and entertaining. There is a mix
of old and new riddims, some execellent vocalising, great instrumentalisation,
conscious lyrics which is appealing against a backdrop of slackness in this
arena, some humour, there are almost samples and nuances, and superb
artistry. There is Blues and
Gospel
Not a bad track, surprisingly I loved this.
