Chosen Few: In Miami (TJACD158)

This is a very good album indeed especially for those that like the soulful side of jamaican Music.

Of course there is regggae bit there is also sweet soul, funk, and a raft of tracks out of 70’s Miami from King Sporty. Built around an album by Chosen few, but as is thease days, packed with Bonus tracks to fill to CD length.

Night and Day is sweet soul over light reggae rhythm.  Wandering is what would now in soul circles be called Crossover. And there is some get down funky stuff with FancyButtercup.  Candy I’m so doggone mixed up is pure sweet vocal harmony sweet soul.

King Sporty hit the Uk back in 74 with Music Maker which was played on the Northern Soul Scene, but his additions are welcome and complimentary to this package.  Girl I’ve got a date is excellent and the funky Miami Style Self Destruct and Black Foxy Woman..

Chosen Few: In Miami (TJACD158)

Format: CD album
Released: Nov 22 2004
Price: £8.99

Formed in the late sixties, the Chosen Few swiftly became one of the most tightest and most soulful harmony groups on the Jamaican scene, notching up a slew of hits for producers Derrick Harriot and 'Prince' Tony. The In Miami album was produced in the US in 1975 by Jamaican King Sporty. Utilising disco-funk masters KC & The Sunshine Band mostly on backing duties, it covered all bases with tracks ranging from Funk through soul to a touch of Reggae. Unavailable for almost 30 years, the original set has been augmented by a number of King Sporty tracks from the period, most of which have never previously seen issue.
