Others may get the plaudits but I’ve been waiting for this one, as derrick harriott is one of my favourite Jamaican singers. This album features derrick on vocals and production on this most sought after album and a plethora of bonus tracks added in for good measure.

The Rocksteady vibe is perfect for Derrick’s sublime vocals and its hard to pick any favourite but The loser has got to be right up there is anybody’s top tunes, surely?

Also worthy of a mention is Keith & Tex’s Tonight, my kind of tune lazy rocksteady, soulful vocals. Similarly Lloyd Robinson & Glen Brow’s You got me going with a harder vocal and a sweeter chorus, and an anthemic Rudy Mills Long Story Also some funky vibes on Bobby Ellis’s Feeling Peckish

Format: CD album Released: Feb 20 2006 Price: £13.49 First issued in 1967, 'Derrick Harriott's Rocksteady Party' quickly became a collector's item among Jamaican music fans, due to the sublime soulful music contained within its grooves and the limited numbers that saw manufacture. Three years on, Trojan scheduled the album's re-issue, but shelved the idea shortly before pressing. Now, almost 40 years since its initial release, the album is finally once more available in limited numbers to members of the newly launched Trojan Fan Club. With a number of Derrick Harriott-produced tracks from the era included as bonus tracks, this collection of Rocksteady gems is even more essential than ever!
