Derrick Harriot:
Derrick Harriott's Rocksteady Party (TJDCD310)
Others may get the
plaudits but I’ve been waiting for this one, as derrick harriott is one of my
favourite Jamaican singers. This
album features derrick on vocals and production on this most sought after album
and a plethora of bonus tracks added in for good measure.
The Rocksteady vibe
is perfect for Derrick’s sublime vocals and its hard to pick any favourite but
The loser has got to be right up there is anybody’s top tunes, surely?
Also worthy of a
mention is Keith & Tex’s Tonight, my kind of tune lazy rocksteady, soulful
vocals. Similarly Lloyd Robinson
& Glen Brow’s You got me going with a harder vocal and a sweeter chorus,
and an anthemic Rudy Mills Long Story Also some funky vibes on Bobby Ellis’s
Feeling Peckish
