Various Artists: Trojan Eighties Box Set (TJETD253)

I’m afraid this is one of the weaker box sets, a lot of it is quite commercial, and there is an argument that the converse to the official ‘blurb’ printed below is the case. Personally I agree with the comment but don’t particularly think that this set backs up the agrument too well.

The good, always great to hear Beres hammond, the big names are still all here like DB, Fredie Mac, Isral Vibraton, Gregory, Delroy, Uhuru and it is best to stick with them I feel.

Format: Treble CD album Released: Apr 25 2005 Price: £11.99 Featuring many of the most successful Reggae acts of the decade, this set draws upon the extensive Trojan, RAS and Creole catalogues to highlight some of the biggest Eighties Jamaican hits. The compilation also proves that Jamaican music certainly hadn't lost its way after the entimely demise of Bob Marley, the man who was ironically the first Reggae artist to have his works issued (albeit posthumously) on CD.
