Lyn Taitt & The
Jets: Hold Me Tight: Anthology '65-''73 (TJDDD264)
Pretty much new to
me I have to say, but after some research it can be seen that lyn Taiit was
hugely influential in the move from ska towards rocksteady, not least
influenced by his own ‘sweeter’ trinidadian style.
Most of this is very
pleasant indeed and when it’s good it is very very good. Pretty much allof Cd1 is sweet
instrumentals from the mid 60’s onwards.
It is on CD2 however that it comes into its own when vocals are added by
a plethora of talent like Joe White, Hopeton Lewis, Roy Shirlye, John Holt,
Delroy Wilson, Ken Boothe and Johnny Nash, plus vocal outfits like Mellotones
and kingstonians.
