Various Artists: Trojan Mod Reggae Box Set Volume 2 (TJETD287)

A further selection of some 50 Mod Ska , rocksteady and reggae favourites from throughout (predominantly) the 60’s.

For me it is still the Soulful tracks that hit home rather than the frantic Ska instrumentals, tracks like the wonderful Little Did you know by the Techniques, or the melodians (Come on little girl) or the Paragons (Happy go lucky Girl).  Dave barker’s Prisoner of Love is also soulful in the extreme.

There is also a fantastic version of Can I get a witness by Owen Gray.

That said there are some storming instrumentals like Nuclear Weapon and the ever popular Whip, and Splash Down..

Various Artists: Trojan Mod Reggae Box Set Volume 2 (TJETD287)

Format: Treble CD album
Released: Aug 22 2005
Price: £12.99

The first box set of Mod favourites, issued over three years ago has proved one of the best selling collections in the Trojan catalogue. The eclectic mix of Ska, Rocksteady, Reggae and R&B sounds proved irresistable to Mods and non-Mods alike and spurred by its success comes its long overdue sequel. Compiled by leading Mod DJ, Dave Edwards, the compilation follows the format established in volume one and by so doing retains the appeal of that ever-popular original.
