This is Soul 2005

A terrific album from the Soul Brother team – contains loads of tracks that are featured elsewhere on this site, and many artists featured in the interview section – Heston, Adriana Evans, Alison crockett, Maya, The Real Kofy Brown, …and plenty more too.

The album hangs together in a really nice way, a kind of modern soul groove, and a slight variation to the Organic Soul series.  The overriding feeling is the quality of the stuff being put down out there in the Independent Soul fraternity.

Worthy of a special mention (only because I haven’t featured them on the site yet) is trace Ellington, a soul dancer from his forthcoming album.  Antoinique’s fell in love is a neo, jazzy epic.  You know out of all the conversations with artist that I have had one of the most consistent names that comes up is Monet, and yet I haven’t connected with her yet! – This is a luscious, instant, melodic.  Nina Provencal falls into the soul dancer category and is different in that it is of UK origin.

Rhian’s Ivory moon, is midtempo funky, bit old skool and a sure favourite of mine. Emerald Jade demonstrates a great voice, deep and jazzy.  Yewande is strong too. Another dancer by Marlon saunders with pacy vocals. Myron’s darkside is one of the picks of his album full of 70’s soul influences.  Geno young’s Honeydew, another great vocal performance.

Quality.
